About

Hi, I'm Björn

I'm a technical animator with a background in graphic design, running a laser and animation studio out of Stockholm. I take on work worldwide and productions run from small corporate events up to full planetarium shows. In 2026 a planetarium show I animated took second place in its category at the ILDA Awards.

Background

Graphic Design & Animation

Born in Sweden, grew up outside Chicago, came back and studied Graphic Design and Communication at Linköping University. I have been making films and animating since I was a kid, and the last six years I have been freelancing as an animator: large projection shows, music videos, technical animation, product visualization, architectural rendering. Then a client turned up who needed animated laser shows. I had never touched the medium, and he ended up becoming a mentor of sorts while I worked out how lasers actually behave. The projects kept growing, and the focus has been shifting that way ever since.

Why laser

A physical medium, in a real environment

What pulls me toward laser is that it is analog. It feels nostalgic yet new at the same time for me. A beam of light hitting a real surface in an exciting environment with a true audience. Most things I have animated end up in the endless sea of screens competing for attention. Lasers are exciting on the other hand, no one is tired of lasers.

Working in it has done more for my enthusiasm for animation than anything else in years. The constraints are really brutal, and that has been part of what makes it interesting to design and produce.

It honestly surprised me once I realized what the lasers are capable of, how little genuinely good animation exists in the medium. Obviously there are amazing artists out there and incredible content, but way too little. I want to push the quality up, show what laser can actually hold, and make more people realize how freakin rad this laser world is!

Let me know the venue, roughly what you have in mind, and when it has to be running. I will let you know what it would cost and some alternatives. Or if you have a set budget, I can put together a concept around that.
